Historic-cultural insights Step by step we find out the native culture of Lüsen and meet its local history. From the town centre we turn left and go to the parish church of St. Georg. Then we follow upwards the stream of the brook Gfasebach, reaching the natural swimming pond, after having passed the childrens playground and the tennis court. Following the path downwards along the brook, we reach the bar Lüsen and the historic farm Mairhof. After crossing the bridge over the brook Lasankenbach to the opposite brook Kaserbach, we have to turn right to get to the nature trail. The trail leads us to the knitter mill Strickermühle. The former trade zone was located here, next to the brook Kaserbach, which allowed using the hydraulic power of the water. Our path leads us to the forge, the knitter mill and the old sawmill and following the upper way, along the old houses, we get back to the town. |

Experience the varied landscapes of the valley of Lüsen The itinerary starts from the hotel Rosental following the Via Crucis, along the brook Lasankenbach. After passing the playground we turn left and walk further until we arrive at the bridge. On the right side of the brook Putzerbach we hike to the farm Sorgenhof and the adjacent petting zoo. Then the path leads us upwards to the farm Lüsnerhof, where we turn right and walk further to the natural playground Rungg. From here we hike through the woods to the viewpoint Zalner Leiten, enjoying the gorgeous view of the mountains of Lüsen. Finally we walk to the watercourse of the brook Gfasebach, which we follow downwards to get to the natural swimming pond and the town centre. |

Gratifying itinerary uphill This itinerary starts at the bridge next to the bar Verena (or at the Hotel Lüsnerhof) and is a little bit challenging. We hike upwards on the path through the meadows along the brook Putzerbach, we pass the petting zoo and arrive to the Hotel Lüsnerhof. Following the path through the woods, we walk uphill to the centre of Flitt (1337.). Here we can take a break at the cozy farm Joasenhof and visit the idyllic chapel. The meadows of Flitt offer a beautiful view of the valley with the Peitlerkofel in the background. The path downwards, which is initially steep and its starting point is located at the farm Wurzer, leads us to the toboggan run and then to the farm Örtl. From here we follow the path through the woods until we arrive at the farm Pekuler. Finally we walk on the street downhill and get back to the Bar Verena (or walking upwards, we return to the Hotel Lüsnerhof. Hint: The panoramic round offers a variety of activities for children, for example the brook playground (Water and Stones, the swimming pond and the natural playground. |

Highmoors - unique biotopes in the alpine world Highmoors are the natural habitat of a variety of rare plants and animals, which are put under protection. We drive from Lüsen on the mountain road to the Hotel Tulper (1627 m) The itinerary starts at the hotel from where we walk in western direction through the woods (marking 14), then on an asphalted road to the farm Wieserhof and after to the farm Gschlorerhof. From here we walk on the path to the right through the woods and then in northern direction over the alpine level to the mountain hut Ronerhütte (1832 m). We proceed in eastern direction reaching the chapel Pianer Kreuz (mark 2), from where we follow the alpine road, enjoying the fabulous view, until we get to a bifurcation. Turning left we reach the mountain hut Rastnerhütte (1931 m), going straight we get to the Starkenfeldhütte (1936 m). After a short break we walk back on the alpine road which leads us to a fork (wooden hut on our right) where we take the left-hand track downwards in southern direction, passing the highmoor (mark 3). The road leads us back to the Hotel Tulper. Variation >Hotel Tulper>Ronerhütte>Oberhauserhütte>Farm Villpeder>Hotel Tulper Initially we follow the indications of the Highmoorpath until we reach the Ronerhütte. From here we walk in western direction on the alpine road, shortly after we turn left and continue on the old alpine path Cofinweg. Walking downwards through meadows and woods we reach the Oberhauserhütte and shortly after we get to the farm Villpeder (with a pilgrimage church), then we follow the street, which leads us to the Gschlorerhof. From there a path will lead us back to the starting point. Hint: The high plateau of the alpine pasture of Rodeneck and Lüsen is also easily accessible with a pram from the parking lot Heroler (1640 m) or parking lot Zumis (1735 m). The alpine path from Zumis to Starkenfeld is also signposted as a Nordic Walking-route (). For experienced hikers we suggest the itinerary to the peak Astjoch (2184 m, Burgstall) |

A pleasant hike to the refuge Kreuzwiese the pure pleasure of hiking. We drive from Lüsen in direction of Flitt on a mountain street, until we arrive to the parking lot Schweiger Böden (1730 m) From here we walk upwards through the woods to the alpine pasture, there we follow the mountain road in eastern direction, until we arrive to a fork where we take the left-hand track to the refuge Kreuzwiesenhütte (1909 m). The Kreuzwiesenhütte is a traditional mountain hut with a dairy and a fabulous view of the Peitlerkofel, the Plose and the Sarentine Alps. After a short break we walk back on the new path Schmalzhaussteig through the area Ratlmoos, until we reach the parking lot. Extension of the itinerary: At the fork, instead of turning left, we turn right and follow the street to the refuge Genaideralm, where we turn left in north-western direction to get to the farm Koch-Campill-Alm (2055 m). A pleasant hike through the woods, enjoying the aroma of pines The itinerary starts at the rest stop Kalkhofen (1710 m, 8 km from Lüsen). The former lime oven has been restored and reminds us about the time, when lime was produced here in Lüsen. Following upwards the brook Lasankenbach (sign), we arrive at the refuge Unterpiscoialm (small mountain zoo). From here we walk to the mountain hut Halslhütte, then upwards to the Enzianhütte (1963 m) and Schatzerhütte (1984 m). The way back (path Karrenweg) leads us through the pine woods, where the fragrance of pines almost forces, to stop for a moment and contemplate the calm atmosphere of these woods. The marked path guides us back to the lime oven Kalkofen, passing the meadows Rungatscher Wiesen. |

Touching the Dolomites We drive about 12 km from Lüsen, reaching the Würzjoch (1998 m). We walk upwards from the parking lot on the mountain road in southern direction, until we arrive at the rest stop Munt de Fornela (2080 m), situated at the foot of the Peitlerkofel. Then we walk downwards in eastern direction to the rest stop Ütja de Göma (2015 m). From here we start our way back following the same paths, in the presence of the impressing walls of the Dolomites. Passing the climbing garden we reach the starting point, where we realize what a memorable impression of the idyllic world of the Dolomites we gained. Walking along the babbling brook Schwarzbach From the parking lot Stadl, we follow the forestry road in north-eastern direction, until we arrive at the second hairpin turn. Here we get on the footpath, which joins the path of the Schwarzbachtal. Walking upwards on the track, we reach the cottage Pekolhütte. From here we walk downwards in western direction to the parking lot Stadl. |

On old paths to lovely wine. We walk from Lüsen to the natural swimming pond and after to the farm Oberburger. The itinerary follows the ancient communication roads of the farms and leads us in western direction through meadows and woods, to farms and brook valleys. After the farm Kreuzplon, we leave the asphalted road and follow the path upwards on our right, until we reach the chapel Kreuzstöckl (984 m). It was built in 1676 and is dedicated to 2 children, who were found alive after 14 days of agony. Initially, we walk downwards on a small path, then on an access road until we reach the tavern Niederst (821 m). This farm is located in such a sunny position, that the viniculture and asparagus culture is possible despite the high location of the structure. The offered cuisine is based on natural products. To get back to Lüsen we can either walk our way back, or we can take a taxi. Variation 1: Driving in direction of Brixen, we turn right at the gas station and follow the street to the parking lot Kreuzplon (884 m) From here we follow the way, as it has been described before, to the Chapel Kreuzstöckl and the tavern Niederst. Then we walk back to the parking lot. Duration: 2 hrs. Height metres: 100 m Length: 5 km Variation 2: After reaching the Chapel Kreuzstöckl (mark 4) we continue our way upwards to the tavern Gruberhof (1368 m). The way back leads us to the farms Prüster and Faller and finally to the parking lot Kreuzplon Duration: 2,5 hrs. Height metres: 480 m. Length: 6 km. |

Applehighplateau Natz cultural centre Neustift Diocesan town Brixen From Lüsen we reach the tavern Niederst (821 m) (Itinerary No 10). On the forestry road we walk downwards to the river Rienz, over the bridge (587 m) and upwards to the town Natz (893 m). A service road through the Applehighplateau leads us to the town Raas. At the end of Raas, we follow a path downwards through the vineyards to Neustift (595 m), while we enjoy the beautiful view of the Brixen-valley. We can walk easily to Brixen, along the left side of the river Eisack. 1 hr, 4 km We can return to Lüsen with the regular bus. |
