Breathe in pure nature, breathe out serenity
“When you go snowshoeing you will get to know and hear the voices and languages of winter in-depth.”
Excerpt from an interview of the magazine NatureFitness with Franz Hinteregger
NatureFitness: Snowshoeing is now very popular. What were things like in 1994 when you first offered tours to your guests?
Franz Hinteregger: Already in the 1970s I went up to the mountain pasture with my brother to bring the hay down into the valley on a hay sledge. This was my first contact with snowshoes. The purity and isolation of Lüsen’s mountain pasture also attracted me there in the 1980s. In 1994, I thought to myself that the landscaping of Lüsen’s mountain pasture offered good pre-conditions for snowshoeing and consequently I made this sport, with its intense enjoyment of nature and the countryside, attractive for my guests. Then snowshoeing was completely unknown. Each year more guests came because of the optimal winter pre-conditions on this untouched high plateau. There are elevated plains, six gentle peaks, a glorious panoramic view of the Dolomites and Zillertal Alps and forests covered in deep snow that create the space for safe hiking and ultimate pleasure.
NatureFitness: What kind of guest is interested today in snowshoeing?
Franz Hinteregger: They are usually people with professional responsibility who are looking for peace and quiet and for whom a ski holiday has become too hectic. They are just normal hikers who also want to enjoy their sport in winter. Others are looking for the personal contact they make easily on our daily guided tours and stopovers in mountain huts.
NatureFitness: What exactly are your guests looking for?
Franz Hinteregger: They are looking for a quiet form of training for the whole body during which they can switch off and regenerate mind and soul. “Tramping through” the snow gives the hiker the opportunity to get to know the winter countryside very well and to hear the voices and languages of winter. As a finale, our guests can experience a romantic wellness adventure in the “Lüsner Badl” (Lüsnerhof’s bath house) or a cosy evening of music within the family circle.
