Nature hotel in South Tyrol

What sustainability means to us

For us, sustainability is not a concept but an attitude that shapes our everyday life at Lüsnerhof. It is reflected in the architecture made of natural materials, in the energy supply from sun, water and wood, and in a kitchen with regional ingredients and a high share of organic produce. In all of this, we think of the generations that will come after us. We wish for the Dolomites to remain as vibrant as we know them today: for gentians and alpine roses to bloom, for clear streams to flow through the valleys and for the fresh mountain air to free the mind. That is why we want to act today the way we would wish for our children and grandchildren.

Every stay at our nature and wellness hotel in South Tyrol is part of this path. And perhaps one day they will say: “Thank you for thinking of us.”

Renewable energy at our nature hotel

At our hotel, the sun lends a hand: since 2026, four of our own photovoltaic systems with a combined output of 240 kW have been generating as much electricity over the course of the year as Lüsnerhof needs. Whatever they produce in excess on long sunny days, we feed into the grid, balancing out the darker hours.

The cosy warmth in our house is provided by a new wood-chip heating system fuelled with wood from the Lüsen forests.

Water from the mountain spring

Our water comes from the mountain springs in the municipality of Lüsen. The Lüsen public utility draws it directly from the Bacherscheitel spring, where it is also cleaned through a charcoal filter. At the table we serve it in carafes, and you will find carafes in the rooms too, each with a silver quartzite stone inside. This saves us quite a few bottles.

The same spring water also feeds the water areas in our spa.

The next steps towards "sustainability"

We have set ourselves a clear goal for the end of 2027: Level 3, the highest level of the South Tyrol Sustainability Label. It is based on the international criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and audited by an independent certification body. With Level 2 already achieved, we have laid the groundwork.
