Drawing on her extensive experience as a fermentation educator, modern-day alchemist and certified herbalist, Alexis shares both the science and the wonder behind the microbial world.

Alexis Goertz is the founder of Edible Alchemy, a Berlin-based fermentation education platform. A herbal educator, beekeeper, and lifelong learner, she was born in Winnipeg, Canada, and now lives in Berlin, where she channels her curiosity into countless fermentation experiments at the Edible Alchemy Lab.
Alexis regularly hosts workshops, urban wild foraging walks, and events celebrating the art and science of fermentation as well as the many uses of wild plants. Her first book, 52 Wild Ferments, brings together her passion for fermentation and foraging. Over the course of 52 weeks, it guides readers through preserving wild plants through fermentation, making the seasonal harvest last well beyond its growing season.
She is currently working on her second book, which explores fermentation techniques from around the world and is scheduled for publication in March 2027.
